Seeds represent the essence of life. Cultivate a personal relationship with local agriculture. Seed Cabinet is an interactive exhibition of images, stories and seeds, and a live performance/workshop on seed saving. Seed Cabinet seeks to inform and inspire the public to cultivate community through local agriculture and realize the power of democracy in food systems. Co-founders of Forage Farm Anna Prizzia and Melissa DeSa and artist Katerie Gladdys from University of Florida School of Art and Art History present Seed Cabinet and Seed Saving 101.

Valerie Rivers, Park Manager at the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park, will read The Secret River, an absorbing story about an adventurous young girl trying to help her community during the difficult times. She will talk about this children’s fantasy book by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings and about the life of this Pulitzer Prize winning author.

  • Sunday, 9/10, 2-3 pm The Year of Cross Creek: Cross Creek, Cross Creek Cookery and Stories (Yerkes Center) (Adults)

Valerie Rivers, Park Manager at the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park, will present a lively program about the life of Cross Creek’s famous author Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings with a few anecdotes about her fellow writers. Also, enjoy samples of marmalade made from her recipe.
